About Me

I am a wife, mother of two, and a CareerMama who has gone Primal. After having my second child, I found it difficult to lose the last 15 pounds of baby fat. My usual regimen of counting calories and circuit training just wasn’t cutting it. I was starting to doubt that the method of losing weight that had worked for me in the past was the right one for me today. My husband began reading The Primal Blueprint, and after reading about 1/3 of the book, he decided to try the diet. I, however, remained skeptical. There was no way I could give up pizza and pasta. And I didn’t like very many vegetables.

After being on the diet for only a couple of weeks, my husband’s pants were looser on him and he reported a weight loss of about 4-5 pounds. My desire to fit into my jeans forced me to take the plunge and try the diet for myself. After only 2 weeks on the diet, I also noticed a change. I lost 3 pounds and was beginning to lose some of the stomach fat I had accumulated during pregnancy. I have been on the diet for about 6 weeks now and have gone down one dress size. In a few more weeks, or perhaps a month, I should be back into my beloved skinny jeans.

Brisket with Carmelized Onions and Sweet Potatoes

Roasted brisket is yummy when paired with mashed sweet potatoes (with salt, pepper, butter, and a bit of heavy cream) and onions caramelized in a red wine sauce. The only thing I would change is the time to cook the brisket. It was a little tough, so next time I would cook it in a crock pot overnight. The sauce was absolutely delicious with all the drippings, about 1/4 cup of red wine, and a bit of beef stock.
